Adding Tracking Templates to Google Ads

Tracking templates allow you to identify the source of an individual ad click by inserting additional information in the URL.

Tracking templates can be set at different levels: the account, campaign, ad group, keyword, ad, or sitelink level.

You can insert tracking template at the campaign level by going to your campaign settings:

An example might look like this:

{lpurl}?utm_campaign=camp_name&utm_source=google&device={device}&utm_medium=cpc&utm_content={adposition}

The lpurl stands for landing page URL and will be changed to the final URL of your ads. To confirm that your tracking code works, click test. This will show you how it will look like once live.
